That’s January over with and I did absolutely nothing photography wise. I didn’t even pick up a camera although I did manage a couple of snaps with my iPhone. What about February? Well in the past February has been my least productive month so I’m not counting on any green sofa action but surely I’ve got to make it more exciting than this January.
That pretty well summed up 2016 for me. Health problems looked as if they would dominate my year but after undergoing further hospital tests they thankfully turned out to be fairly minor. Just keep taking the tablets Big Ears. Hot chicks on the green sofa were few and far between. I’ve lost the urge, scarcely any models get my interest nowadays, too much in the way of body modifications and adornments for my tastes. Where have all the attractive natural looking models gone. What about 2017? Photographically I fear things are going to get a damn sight more depressing for me. I will have less money to squander and with fashion dictating the inked plastic look I think finding fresh talent is destined to become nigh impossible. C’est la vie.
My prospects may look bleak but I would wish all of you out there on planet internet a healthy happy 2017.
I was bored with how the shoot was going so I thought I would try a few snaps in the window using natural light. Normally this doesn’t work well because I struggle to get enough fill on the shadow side so I decided to put to use one of the expensive Nikon flashguns I have lying around gathering dust. I mounted a SB-800 in the D810’s hot shoe and the display lit up showing me it was in TTL BL mode. What! What is this TTL BL mode? Surely I had seen it before but must have forgotten about it. Being in an adventurous mood I gave it a whirl and looking at these results it’s done a far better job than my normal mix and match lighting attempts. Methinks I must remember to use this accidentally found mode again.
Oh dear, I’ve fallen back into my usual February depression. Being seriously pissed off with a couple of people at the moment means it would be unwise for me to blog about anything in case it turns into an uncontrolled rant!
I’m rather pleased with myself. While perusing the internet looking for a cheap industrial strength shredder for my transparency cull I came across security scissors. They are like kitchen scissors but multi bladed. At £2.50 it was a no brainer so I got myself a pair and they are proving to be just the ticket for the clear-out. In the past I have always ended up using a sturdy pair of scissors. Yes it is time consuming but very effective. Shredding would be quicker but I’ve bulked at the cost. The small home office types just can’t take it and gunge up.
